Abstract

This thesis comprises modern cutting materials like sintered carbides and cutting ceramics. The opening of thesis contains description of commonly used cutting materials, structure of sintered carbides, their practical application and chemical content of sintered carbide’s groups. Further chemical coating as an important protection of cutting tip against abrasion, kinds of chemical coatings and coating methods are described. This is followed by description of another cutting material as cutting ceramics, their technical application, structure, marking and usage in cutting operations. Experimental part includes testing of cutting tips PRAMET, ISCAR and SECO during X10CrMoVNb91 (P91) material cutting. Based on traced back time of abrasion we specified the amount of removed material during the cutting tip’s lifetime.
