Abstract

The thesis is focused on the availability of acute inpatient care in selected counties. The aim of the thesis is to assess the institutional and local availability of acute inpatient care in the Moravian-Silesian and the South Moravian region for the period 2009-2013. A hypothesis was formulated to achieve the objectives. It is based on the assumption that the availability and the effectiveness of acute inpatient care is different in the Moravia-Silesia and the South Moravian region, and even between various districts in these counties. DEA methods, network analysis and Dijkstra's algorithm were used. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) was input oriented and included the following indicators - the number of beds and the average of occupied beds per 1 physician time per day. Network analysis monitored the driving time of providers of acute care in time zones - 20, 30 and 60 minutes. The thesis concludes that the availability in the region is comparable, as well as efficiency, but between different districts, the availability and effectiveness is different.
