Abstract

This thesis deals with the determination of heat release rates using a cone calorimeter and a combustion microcalorimeter. The thesis it is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part, the basic knowledge of heat release rates is first described. Then is describes oxygen calorimetry and calorimetry based on the oxygen consumption principle. In the practical section, the two measuring methods, the measurement procedure, the materials under investigation and their properties are described. The paper concludes with an evaluation of the results of the methods on each and their comparison with each other using correlation.
