Historie báňského vzdělávání v České republice po roce 1989

Abstract

This thesis deals with the history of mining education in Czech lands especially between the year 1989, a significant political-social milestone, and the present. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce both the expert community and the layman public to the importance of education in natural and technical sciences. Thesis is divided into four parts, where the first part lays down the basic terms in mining education and also provides insight into the history of the mining education up until the period of the Velvet Revolution in former Czechoslovakia. Second part is dedicated to the analysis of individual information sources of this thesis and to significant figures which contributed to the advancement of mining education. Third part describes the present condition of mining education in secondary schools and also fields of study related to geoscientific disciplines offered by technical universities in Czech Republic. The last part examines the reasons for the decrease of interest in mining studies after the year 1989 and also presents the statistics on the number of students at the Faculty of Mining and Geology of Technical University of Ostrava in the recent years.
