Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with poverty and inequality in Africa and the European Union development aid. The main aim is to define the theoretical analysis of poverty and inequality, EU development aid as an instrument of foreign policy of the Member States, and to evaluate the economic a social development of African region in the context of EU development aid in Africa based on selected data using mathematical and statistical methods. It illustrates the fundamental aspects of poverty and inequality, concepts, consequences, causes and measurement tools of poverty, characteristics, types and measurement methods of inequality. Then it specifies the objectives, authorities, funding, forms and instruments of EU development aid. To outline the EU role in elimination of poverty and inequality in Africa is the own contribution. Finally, it closes datas associated with poverty, inequality, economic development of Africa and informs about selected EU projects.
