Dostupnost sociálních služeb pro seniory v Olomouckém kraji

Abstract

ABSTRAKT - EN The bachelor thesis is focused on the availability of social services for the elderly in the Olomouc Region. The project examines the number of elderly and their current options for social services. The goal is to map specific institutions in the Olomouc Region and the services they offer. The economics and social aspects of the relationships the elderly have with their families and wider society is taken into consideration. In the research part of the project two specific institutions that offer a number of different types of social services in the Olomouc Region are selected and explored - Charity Zabreh and Social Services for Elderly, Sumperk. The research examines the values and goals of the institutionsas well as capacity and financing. The thesis discusses the current financing and capacity of social services from the sustainability perspective. The current perception of elderly in the society is also discussed and it highlights the importance of self-care and strong family relationships. The research suggests that the demand for the field social services can be met and this type of services seems to be the best solution for today’s elderly. However, the thesis found out there is a lack of capacity of the residential social services across the examined region. The conclusion suggests increasing the capacity of residential institutions because of the current shortage and constant increase of elderly population. As an alternative and a future solution, it is suggested to keep the elderly healthy which would result in decreasing demand for residential social services.
