Abstract David Stašek Germany as Economic Leader of Europe

The aim of this thesis is to highlight the role of the FRG in the development of European integration, as well as a comparison and evaluation of the current economic situation of the country within the European Union. The thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter is theoretical basis in the form of description of the development of European integration since the Second World War to the present. The content of the second chapter has detailed focus on the role of FRG in European integration processes as well as highlighting its role in the adoption of a common European currency. The aim of the third chapter is to evaluate the economic situation of the country within the European Union, for the use of basic macroeconomic indicators. For the processing of the thesis were used books on the history of European integration and data from the European Statistical Office.
