Abstract
This diploma thesis addresses the protection of cultural monuments during emergencies in the
Slovak Republic with a focus on fire protection. After theoretical foundations and analysis of the
current state, the thesis evaluates foreign approaches, illustrates systemic shortcomings through
a case study of the 2012 Krásna Hôrka Castle fire, and presents a study of protective measures
based on the Kidd-Zelinger analytical form. The practical output is a checklist for evaluating
the fire protection readiness of heritage buildings.
