Abstract
In the thesis, the issues relating to the structure and resistance to fatigue damage in steel axles for railway wheels. In the theoretical section explains the general characteristics of railway wheels, axles, heat treatment of the steel and its resistance to fatigue damage,
which is necessary for subsequent practical.
The practical part deals with the evaluation of structural and fractographic characteristics
of the material axles of railway wheels. Testing was performed on samples that were taken from smooth and notched bars. Then assess purity, microstructure and fractography of the test samples.
