Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to study the microstructure of superalloy Inconel 738LC, finding long-term impact of annealing on microstructure and consequently change the properties of materials in harsh applications. Nickel based superalloy has excellent strength properties at high temperatures. It is used for the manufacture of engines, gas turbines and turbochargers. For its characteristics such as resistance to mechanical and thermal fatigue. Inconel 738LC alloy studied the long-term annealed at a temperature of 850 °C for 102-104 hours. Then, its microstructure was studied in scanning electron microscopy, where there is no pronounced variations in chemical composition. Strength and creep characteristics are not especially affected and therefore the alloy may be used in arduous working conditions.
