Abstract
The first part of this bachelor thesis deals with the fundamental characteristics of batteries, heat generation rates produced by batteries and parameters defining the properties of batteries. Battery efficiency affected by temperature is discussed in greater detail. Secondly, electric vehicle battery cooling systems of the present-day electric vehicles are presented. Analysis of the forced air-cooling strategy is described at the end of the theoretical part of the thesis, along with the research summary of the heat transfer in battery storage containers. Simulations of the airflow and heat transfer in battery boxes were performed in the practical part of the thesis. Lastly, the assessment of the optimal cooling solution for our electric vehicle is presented.
