Abstract

In my bachelor thesis I have tried my best to cover the issue of Structural Funds and their use. I have also made an effort to present appropriately an example of using the Structural Funds for building Ostrava’s new co-working center Viva. The first chapter is devoted to theoretical interpretation of Structural Funds and their use. This chapter contains short description of the European Union, its history, approaching the area of regional policy, European Funds, characterization of potential Applicant and duties and requirements, that has to be satisfied by the Applicant The following chapter is focused on the center Viva and the use of grants for its building. Viva is the first co-working center in Ostrava and its vicinity. The origin of the expression “co-work“ comes from English. It is a place where people work in some community. One’s own work, arranging job or personal meetings, conferences or lectures and presentations can be done in this space. This center will probably welcome especially those who aren’t limited by their permanent office. Viva is also a place where parents can work meanwhile professional babysitters in Playground Kuky take care of their children. They can also use masseur or coach service or take a cup of great coffee in Viva’s Laura café. All these are available in co-working center Viva. Besides, the Viva’s authors – citizens’ organization Institut pro ženy - organize interesting lectures and conferences on different topics each month. This is how they strive to build a place, where all the family’s personal and professional lives would be interconnected. The last chapter deals with use of above mentioned theme in mass media. It includes four journalism genres – editorial, leader, interview and inquiry. Those are potential tools that can be used for presenting this new project to the general schema_dspacedb.
