Abstract

MATULOVÁ, Štěpánka. Airport security using environmental design. [Master thesis] Ostrava: VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering, 2026. 67 p. The master's thesis deals with the issue of airport terminal security using the principles of environmental design. Its aim is to create a design of building elements and their arrangement that will contribute to increasing terminal security and preventing undesirable events. Attention is paid to the characteristics of airports in the Czech Republic, describing terminals and their environment, identifying threats and principles of environmental design usable for security. The analytical part focuses on the assessment of risks, building structures, materials and approaches using environmental design. On its basis, the design part formulates the design of building elements and their arrangement with the aim of minimizing vulnerability and increasing the level of protection of airport terminals.
