Abstract

This paper deals with the problematics of consolidation of embankment subsoil. This thesis deals with the issue of accelerating the consolidation of the subsoil of embankments and transition zones using the implementation of stone columns. Part of the paper is dedicated to the introduction of the in-depth improvement methods with an emphasis on stone columns and the possibilities of their numerical modelling. The result of this thesis is a clear comparison between calculated values and values measured using geotechnical monitoring, which should serve for a better idea of the relationship between the numerical model and reality.
