Abstract

The issue of the use and recycling of secondary materials and waste is actual across the spectrum of all areas of human activity. A significant proportion of all waste generated consists of waste materials from industrial production and especially of metalurgy. This thesis is description of the metallurgical process, focusing on steel slag as a by-product, analyze its chemical and physico-mechanical properties and summarize its current use in the construction industry. The experimental part compares and evaluates the results of laboratory tests of samples of concrete, two of test kit consists of concrete with slag from different factories and the third set is a reference to the commonly used concrete aggregate. The results of these tests indicate that concrete with steel slag exhibit inferior physical properties in almost all parameters.
