Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis analyzes the economic impacts of European climate policy on the civil aviation sector. The theoretical section addresses the issue of decarbonization in the context of the European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 package, with a specific focus on the emissions trading system and the introduction of sustainable aviation fuels. The practical section uses quantitative analysis to map the development of CO₂ emissions and rising environmental costs. The aim of the research is to compare the impacts of these regulations on the cost structure of a low-cost carrier and a traditional network airline, supplemented by a model example of a flight using wide-body and narrow-body aircraft. The results show that advancing decarbonization and the associated increase in permit prices and the share of sustainable fuel place a burden on airlines, particularly on the low-cost carrier model.
