Abstract

This thesis examines the influence cooling characteristics of different quenching media have on the properties of low-alloy steels. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the analysis of the theory and technology of heat treatment in steel forgings. The practical part describes the experiment in which identical items were forged from the same quality steel hardened into different types of quenching media. Subsequently, in all media, hardening curves were measured and forgings were tempered. In conclusion, there is a comparison of the mechanical properties and microstructures in forgings.
