Stavební úpravy objektu bývalých jatek v Moravské Ostravě a jeho nové využití

Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with a design of a new use for historic buildings of a former city slaughterhouse which was used by the city of Ostrava for over 100 years. Nowadays the area is found in a poor construction and technical condition. Until today former swine slaughter, engine room and cold store with its characteristic tower made of fair-face brickwork have been preserved. Remains of the built-up area belong among Listed Buildings. The thesis designs a new inside layout in two variants. The first one changes the former use into cultural – artistic centre, the second one makes a proposal for an artistic elementary school. At the same time sequence to the surrounding buildings ( and specially the pedestrian connection to Stodolni street ) has been taken into consideration. Alternatives of the new use deal with the problems of area rehabilitation and integration of the buildings into natural atmosphere of the city.
