Abstract

The status of women in society with focusing on the labor market

The aim of the thesis is finding out whether is observed repeatedly declared equality between men and women in the labor market in the Czech Republic, European Union and in the world. The actual position of women in the labor market is based primarily on historical aspects and a wide range of prejudices. The right to work is regarded as inalienable right of every woman, but this does not mean that it also enjoys equal status. The issue is adequately secured on a legislative, but the situation in real life is often different. The main barriers, which undermine this equality, are: a greater level of female unemployment than men, income disparities and ultimately lower representation of women in decision-making processes both at the level of the Czech Republic and abroad. At present the issue of equal opportunities for women and men in the labor market is dedicated big attention. The attention consists primarily in promoting the reconciliation of professional and family life through various measures.
