Abstract

The aim of this thesis is the analysis of inflation in the Czech Republic in the period 1997 – 2009. The thesis is divided into four sub-chapters that are logically connected. The first chapter contains a theoretical definition of inflation, its typology, methods of measuring inflation, positive and negative effects of inflation, cost inflation, inflation targeting and relationship with unemployment, inflation and economic growth. The second chapter contains an analysis of inflation in the Czech Republic, which is divided into four sub-stages. The first stage is the beginning of the transition period to May 1997, the second season is from May 1997 until the beginning of the end of 1997. The last two periods of inflation recorded in 1998 to the present, and inflation or price stability criterion in terms of future accession to the ERM II. The third chapter shows the evolution of inflation during the economic crisis and last chapter includes suggestions and recommendations for monetary policy in terms of price stability.
