Abstract
RIEDLOVÁ, Helena. Assessment of the effectiveness of UV radiation in disinfection of the surface. Ostrava, 2021. Diploma thesis. VŠB-TU Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering. Thesis supervisor Karla Barčová.
The diploma thesis is dedicated to the disinfection of surfaces with UV radiation. The introductory part explains the physical nature of electromagnetic radiation and its distribution according to wavelength. This part is followed by the interpretation of UV radiation together with the division into individual areas, as well as radiation sources, detectors, and its biological effects. The last part of the work describes the experiment. The conclusion evaluates the effectiveness of UV radiation from various radiation sources. The aim of this work is to determine the effectiveness of UV radiation in exposure to microorganisms, depending on the time of exposure and distance from the source. Bacillus subtilis was used as a model microorganism in the experiment.
