Abstract
kultura měla více implementovat do modelů ekonomického růstu.
This diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of culture as one of the four fundamental factors of economic growth. Culture is basically approximated employing religion. However, in this thesis, using a previous literature review, culture is approximated through a historical-geographical perspective. In this way, 34 European countries are divided into 6 regions, which are first subjected to descriptive analysis. This analysis contains a description of 3 areas of economic development, namely economic growth and GDP per capita, economic freedom, and human development. There were significant differences between regions. That is, for example, the contrast between the developed Scandinavian countries and the countries of the former Eastern bloc. The next step of this thesis was a regression analysis of values and attitudes, which according to the empirical literature are considered important for long-term economic growth. This statement is complemented by a correlation analysis of these values and attitudes with the respective level of GDP per capita in a given year. The Scandinavian region, Northern Europe and Western Europe, for example, were found to attain the best results in terms of the trust. By contrast, the South-East European region achieved the last position in most cases. Culture approximated on the basis of the chosen methodology is, therefore, a very strong factor influencing values and attitudes important for economic growth. Based on these findings, culture should be more implemented in models of economic growth.
