Abstract

The bachelor thesis is focused on currency counterfeiting in the Czech Republic and the possibilities of its prevention. The aim of this thesis is to describe the origin of currency, legal and technical aspects that contribute to currency protection. Another aim is to draw attention to the issue of currency counterfeiting. However, the primary aim is to describe the ways in which the Czech National Bank and the Police of the Czech Republic contribute to the protection of the currency and what are the other options of prevention against counterfeiting and currency alteration. In the theoretical part of the thesis, there is the origin of currency, its protective elements and legislation in terms of financial and criminal law explained using the description method. In the practical part, there are tools, by which the currency is protected by the police and the Czech National Bank, as well as the tools used to prevent money against crime. Furthermore, the questionnaire survey aiming at the awareness of the younger generation of the Czech currency is evaluated. In conclusion, the findings out from the theoretical and practical parts are summarized. Further, possible prevention against currency counterfeiting is presented.
