Abstract

This work deals with properties of graphite cast irons. The first part is focused on the properties of the basic elements, structural components contained in the graphite cast irons. In addition, methods, procedures for sampling and specimen processing used in structural analysis are described. This is followed by a structural analysis of the machine component with the results shown in the conclusion.

For investigation in the field of the structural analysis, the microscope and measuring instrument modernization is a major asset. High progress has been achieved by inventing a scanning electron microscope and the discovery of a digital camera as well as miniaturization computers as well as recording media. This allows that what is displayed can be photographed in color and stored unchanged and also re-evaluated.
