Abstract
The bachelor thesis presents a brief overview taken from the history and present that deals with the technically proven principle of old electromagnetic technologies replacement by new modern drives based on semiconductor converters. The whole modernisation has been carried out with the intention to achieve not only significant increase of energy efficiency of the newly used conveying systems but also significant increase of the safety and reliability of the large-scale excavator, unification of controls, standardization of design, ability to secure the individual drives separately, and the possibility to operate the excavator on limited performance. The bachelor thesis also deals with the basic technical description and subsequent solution of replacement of outdated drive technologies by modern drives equipped with semiconductor converters. Utilization of technologies modernised in the described manner provides the possibility to set the thickness of the layer of soil extracted by the excavator and to influence the power consumption and thus prolong the service life of the rotary excavator.
