Zhodnocení veřejného dluhu v České a Slovenské republice

Abstract

The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the development of public debt in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic, with particular regard to the sustainability of public finances from different perspectives and provide a subjective recommendation for fiscal policy makers. Methods of deduction, analysis and comparison were used in the thesis. Reporting the fiscal deficit and public debt was accomplished with methodology of the GFS 1986 / GFS 2001 and ESA 1995 / ESA 2010. We discovered a similar course of monitored indicators, but in case of the Slovak Republic, there were bigger fluctuations. The population aging appears to be a significant problem of long-term sustainability of public finances in both countries. Author would like to advice the fiscal policy makers, among solution of external signs of population aging, to take steps which would support change of demographic trends.
