Abstract

The goal of this work was to design and create an application in programming language Java for the operating system Google Android. The application should automatically recognize resistor color codes from the photos taken by the mobile phone in a sufficient distance. Based on the image analysis, the application finds and evaluates the value of the resistor. The first part describes the loading and saving of the photo images captured by the mobile phone camera. The image processing is applied only to the region of interest of the picture. Image bluring is applied for better colour evaluation, edges are found for each bar and in consequence colours are compared with the reference colour table. Further an algorithm which finds out the appropriate value from the colour is applied, then evaluates the result and recalculates the given value of the part. In the end the application success rate of recognizing the resistor codes is evaluated.
