Abstract

Salt mine waters, characteristic of deep-water mining in the Ostrava-Karviná district, negatively affect the environment, fauna and flora. There are, of course, plants called halofyta that adapt to high salinity and resist salt stress. Among the halophytic plants we include the common reed. Phytoremediation processes in salt mines were experimentally tested in laboratory conditions of hydroponically grown on common reed. During this experiment, salt stress was detected in these plants, and selected parameters of chemistry of water samples from hydroponics. Different behavior was evaluate of hydroponics of reeds taken from the Lazy Mine Sludge Reservoir, already adapted to salty mining waters and hydroponics from pond, without salinity.
