Abstract

This thesis examines the impact of generational differences on perceptions of work-life balance in a selected company. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the current state of work-life balance among employees of different generations and to propose measures to improve it. The theoretical section focuses on the characteristics, values, and attitudes of individual generations in the labor market and on their differences in terms of work priorities, motivation, and attitudes toward change, technology, and flexible forms of work. It also includes a definition of the concept of work-life balance and its significance in the current work environment. The practical section is based on a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews with employees in professional and technical positions. The results showed that work flexibility, the option to work from home, positive work relationships, and sufficient time for family and friends play an important role in achieving work-life balance. The main barriers to achieving a balance between work and personal life include a heavy workload, overtime, and stress. The analysis also revealed intergenerational differences, with older generations evaluating work-life balance more positively than younger generations. Generations X and Y more frequently perceive high workloads and stress. Generation Z, on the other hand, finds it more difficult to separate work and personal life. Based on these findings, measures were proposed aimed at reducing workloads, limiting overtime, expanding benefits, and increasing work flexibility.
