Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on inventory management in a medium-sized company operating in the automotive industry. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the current inventory management system in the selected company and propose measures leading to higher warehouse management efficiency, inventory optimization, and reduction of tied-up capital. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts of logistics, inventory functions, inventory-related costs, and methods of inventory management and analysis, especially ABC, XYZ and combined ABC/XYZ analysis, the Economic Order Quantity model, and Q and P inventory management systems. The practical part focuses on the analysis of the company Alfa, its organizational structure, economic indicators, and the system of supply and storage management. Based on the conducted analyses, problematic areas related mainly to excessive inventory levels, low inventory turnover of selected items, and insufficiently set planning parameters were identified. The outcome of the thesis consists of specific recommendations aimed at optimizing order quantities, improving the management of excess inventory, and enhancing planning and control processes in order to increase the efficiency of inventory management and reduce the company’s logistics costs.
