Abstract
The main aim of this thesis was to describe the microstructural characteristics of 316L stainless steel, which was printed using Ultrafuse 316L filament (BASF) and a simple desktop 3D printer Ultimaker S5. The theoretical part is mainly devoted to the description of the different additive methods with a focus on the extrusion method (FDM), then the stainless steels (especially austenitic stainless steels) are described and the end of the theoretical part is devoted to the electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) method. The experimental part contains a brief description of FDM printing parameters, subsequent binder removal and sintering. The main part of the experiment includes sample preparation for EBSD analysis followed by evaluation of inverse pole figures (IPF) maps, phase maps and grain size (GS) maps. At the end of the experimental part, the porosity of the 3D printed samples is calculated.
