Abstract

Various components of monuments and historic buildings were set in stone as the main building material. Many kinds of stones was also used for decorative and architectural elements such as reliefs, cornices, columns. Currently, there are problems in the restoration work, it is necessary to fill in missing parts or replacement of stone elements. This is due to the unavailability of specific types of stone, high costs of extraction and transport, and also environmental impact. More environmentally friendly alternative is to use artificial stone, which is designed according to the requirements and criteria based on identified characteristics of authentic stone. The ability to produce material with high strength and toughness, which would also aesthetically elegant flagstone is currently extensive. This bachelor work deals with the methods of preparing artificial stone. Work represents a summary materials and methods suitable for the preparation of artificial stone. It also points to the mechanical properties of this material.
