Abstract
This thesis describes the historical development and current state of international protection of child rights. The goal is to define the issues of child rights protection system and to describe the functioning of government and non-governmental organizations dealing with this issue. Their cooperation and competence help to promote the protection of children’s rights in many countries around the world and also contribute to improving the lives of children in many areas. Worldwide, a whole series of initiatives to improve job and living conditions of children and promote the development of poor countries are forming. Currently, the best known initiative is “Millennium Development Goals”, adopted by the UN in 2000, which provides a framework for the international community to cooperate on a common goal. End of the thesis focuses on the analysis of selected aspects of children's rights violations in both developing and developed countries.
