Sukcese vybraných invazních a expanzivních druhů na struskopopílkovém odkališti Dolní Líštná

Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis examines the succession of the invasive species Solidago canadensis and the expansive species Calamagrostis epigejos on a slag-ash tailings pond in Dolní Líštná. The aim of the thesis was to establish a basis for monitoring their development in an anthropogenically influenced habitat. To achieve this goal, a phytocenological survey was conducted, along with an analysis of the soil seed bank, determination of thousand-seed weight, and a germination test. The results showed that the vegetation corresponds to the ruderal character of the site and exhibits relatively high species diversity, which is influenced by the site’s microclimatic conditions. The dominant species was Calamagrostis epigejos, while Solidago canadensis exhibited higher generative potential. The soil seed bank was species-poor, and its significance for vegetation restoration was limited. The low germination rate of seeds on the tailings pond substrate suggests that both species spread at the site primarily vegetatively. The results of this study show that, in the absence of significant disturbances, Calamagrostis epigejos may become long-term dominant, which can influence the further course of succession and limit the establishment of other species.
