Abstract

The banking regulation and supervision is the main part of financial markets. The goal of banking regulation is mainly to control banking and nonbanking subjekt and restrict the non-ethic and damaging activities, which can cause problems in banking sector. The goal of the bachelor thesis is to find potencial differences in rules valid before and after the global financial crisis. The main issue is also the bank´s capital and its level and quality. By using the method of sytnhesis and comparison, I conclude that there are substantial differences in the rules of banking regulation and supervision. During financial crisis, the Basel II was amended, a new agreement Basel III was created, there is discussion about banking union. New rules should increase banks' responsibility, strenghten their capital resources to restrict enourmous losses.
