Abstract

The theme of the thesis is Local government in the Czech Republic and Netherlands. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chaprter is an introduction and the fifth one is a conclusion. The second chapter has a general character and introduces the basic principles of local government. There is a description of historical evolution of settlement, then types of municipals and Europe charter of local self-government. The third chapter is concetrated on a comparison of state, geographical, demographical, economic conditions in both countries. The fourth chapter introduces a comparasion of local government in the Czech republic and Netherlands. Firstly, there is a description of local government in both countries. Secondly, there are compared municipal authorities, the scope of municipal authority and municipal budgets of both countries. In the conclusion of the thesis there were summarized the identified facts and were proposed some recommendations.
