Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with fortification system, built between 1935-1938 on the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic. The focus is on the section in northwest Bohemia. Specifically, it is a 5.5 km long line of light fortifications, which is located at the area to the north of Chomutov and to the west of Jirkov. It is designed into several chapters, in which we become acquainted not only with technical elements, but also with former situations, reasons for the construction of fortifications, and with the fortune of these objects. The introductory section deals with the whole complex of fortification, but it´s generally conceived. The other parts and the main goal of my thesis is to map the objects of light fortification in the area between Chomutov and Jirkov. It deals the way fortresses were built, how they were armed and equipped, and which objects of light fortifications have been preserved until today. It then mentions the use of relics of fortifications today, about the possibilities of making them available to the general public and the integration to tourism.
