Abstract

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to characterize the main regional integration organisations in the North and South America, to identify and evaluate the most important causes of so far unsuccesful Free Trade Area of the Americas, especially from the perspective of selected countries of the American continent. The thesis also indentified the main features of the relations between the European Union and selected countries of the American region. The second chapter of this thesis is focused on the socio-economic characteristics of the American continent, especially the political and economic development of each country. The integration organisations, which were established in the Americas and operates to present, is the main filling of the third chapter. The fourth chapter is devoted to the project of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, and also the main causes of failure to complete the negotiation process.
