Abstract
The aim of the bachelor thesis is an overview of the use of structural brass fittings and brass alloys. Attention is focused on the physical and mechanical properties of brass alloys and selected structural brass for fittings, their distribution according their specifications and their use. Structural brass can be affected by various environmental influences, which can result in degradation mechanisms such as corrosion and dezincification. Such mechanisms are the most common cause of failure of brass fittings. These damages are then subsequently examined by various methods such as defectoscopy. A selected part of the observed brass armature showed a homogeneous two-phase microstructure (in wt %) with 61Cu and 34Zn and with a minor proportion of the phase e.g. based on Pb and Fe.
