Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of potential defects in ductile iron castings and the assessment of their risk at the company Slévárna Dolní Benešov, s.r.o. The theoretical part deals with the issue of quality planning and the elaboration of the Design FMEA and the Process FMEA. This part also includes basic information relevant to the foundry industry. The practical part describes the analysis of the production process of sample castings, starting with the production engineering up to and including quality control methods for manufactured sample castings. Recommendations suggested in FMEA were applied to the production process and the effects of the particular recommendations are assessed in the conclusions.
