Abstract
The content of the thesis is to characterize multinational companies, their definition and status in the world economy and the gradual development trend. There are not miss out their activities and their increasing power versus nation states and nowadays very popular topic of social responsibility.
The thesis also identified foreign direct investments and their movement in the form of international capital. Use charts depicts development of outflows and inflows of foreign direct investment at world and European level and also on the level selected states. Selected countries are composed of five European Union countries on the basis of their similar geographical location. Four of these countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Austria) and in addition connects the common historical development. For comparison, this quartet is expanded to one of the economically strongest European countries, which is Germany.
Attractiveness of the aforementioned five selected countries of the European Union for investors, as the potential host economies is evaluated by the World Competitiveness Yearbook (Global Competitiveness Report) and Doing Business report focused on the evaluation of the business environment. Results from these indicators are finally compare with the volume of FDI inflows to selected countries for the year 2014.
