Abstract

The subject of the thesis entitled the Development of Glass Industry in the Czech Republic is the analysis of the influence of glass industry on the most important macroeconomic indicators. The aim is to find out the significance and prospects of the glass manufacture, a traditional part of the manufacturing industry, for the economy of Czech Republic. The content of the thesis is divided into three chapters that describe the historical development of glass manufacture from its beginnings to its current status. In the first part the formation and the development of this branch until the eighties of the last century is captured. The next part evaluates the status of the branch depending on the economic development of the Czech Republic which is related with the transformation process in the Czech economy and outlines the trends with the advent of the new millennium. The key part is the third chapter analyzing the development of the Czech glass industry with regard to the effects of the global financial and economic crisis. Attention is focused on the development of the employment, gross domestic product and foreign trade indicators. The thesis includes the possible prospects of further successful development. The text part is completed by the tables, graphs and pictures.
