Abstract

This work deals with the wastewater treatment technology of a ceramics factory. Waste water flows into the wastewater treatment plant and contains suspended particles of clay materials, plaster, water glass, abrasive particles and oxides of iron. Currently, the waste process water, after passing through the wastewater treatment plant, does not have qualitative characteristics which allow for reuse in production. However, the water can be released back into the watercourse. Effluent samples from the factory were used to test reverse osmosis technology in the laboratory. This research has shown that this technology can clean waste water from a ceramic factory. The cleaned water has properties that predispose it for re-use in the production of ceramics. This fact will reduce the production costs of sanitary ceramics. It is also possible to state that environmental impacts which arise from the production of ceramics by Ideal Standard Teplice s.r.o. do not have a dangerous impact for water sources, which is of great importance for the spa area of Teplice, too.
