Abstract

This Bachelor thesis is focused on familiarizing oneself with the methods of image acquisition using analog black-and-white cameras. This knowledge is then applied to building elements and algorithms that utilize captured images from analog cameras via an embedded image monitoring system. These images are then forwarded to the computer, assembled, evaluated and further analyzed. The image analysis is already being used in many branches of industry from security applications to ensure safety in the workplace, to the quality control of products. It is also possible to use it for laboratory tasks, mobile robot control, facial recognition, fingerprints scanning or to recognize text or specific shapes in an image. This thesis' analysis focuses on searching for continuities in an image and comparing them with previously known characters such as digits or letters.
