Abstract
The diploma thesis deals with the refining of aluminum alloys and the possibilities of modification and substitution of refining technology. The text is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theory is focused on the melt preparation process and gravity casting. The practical part presents the technology of Al-Si melt refining and its possible alternatives. Based on the performed experiment consisting in the comparison of DI, Drosstest, Straube-Pffeifer test, spectral analysis, subsequent production release and melt analysis using the PoDFA method, a comparison of individual technologies is presented. Based on test results, the work deals with the possibilities of substitution of existing technology. In this respect. in addition to comparing existing technology, the dependence of refining length on its efficiency was also monitored and the possibility of adjusting the length of refining process is discussed.
