Abstract

If a company wants to maintain its competitive power nowadays, it must use information systems and technologies in the area of purchasing as well. The main advantages are speed, operative ability and transparency. Electronic auctions represent one of the modern tools used within the purchasing processes. An electronic auction is an online selection of a supplier in a shared web environment where the other suppliers can react to the issued best offer of one of the suppliers by improving their offers. The Thesis deals with the utilization of electronic auction system in modern purchasing processes of the organizations. It identifies the possible uses of e-auctions, their stages, advantages and disadvantages.
