Abstract

The aim of this dissertation is to comprehensively describe the procedure followed to award public contracts in the Czech Republic, evaluate the current state of those contracts in that country and communicate potential suggestions and recommendations de lege ferenda. To facilitate comprehension, the dissertation is divided into five key parts. The introduction discusses legal adjustments and division of public contracts, basic concepts and major principles of this area. The second part describes the selection procedure followed in order to select the most suitable supplier for a particular public contract. The third part familiarises the reader with specific options of the award procedure and particular attention is paid towards individual steps the contractor has to make during such process. The fourth part primarily focuses on evaluating the current state of public contracts in the Czech Republic and also describes the most common mistakes made by the contractors during the award procedure. The conclusion highlights some of the key points faced by Czech public contracts markets and provides suggestions to eliminate them. This dissertation will bring awareness to the reader about public contracts and could be used as a source of inspiration for the audience engaged in issues surrounding the award procedure of public orders.
