Abstract

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of pro-family policy, both in a broader context and with a gradual application on the example of the Czech Republic and France and their mutual comparison. The aim of the thesis is to define the concept of family policy in a theoretical level. In the practical part evaluate the system of pro-family policy of the Czech Republic and France. Based on the analysis of selected pro-family policy instruments, total volumes of income and expenditure on family policy instruments and basic benefit systems provided to families with children, formulate possible measures concerning the pro-family policy system in the Czech Republic, based on the French model. The theoretical part is focused on family and family policy. The goals, models, principles, and tools of family policy are defined. Demographic development and birth rates are also described. In the practical part, an analysis of selected instruments of family policy of the Czech Republic and France is performed. Attention is paid to the characteristics of family policies in both countries with a focus on historical development, institutional arrangements, and tools to support families with children under 6 years of age. The financing of family policy is also pointed out. The last chapter focuses on the evaluation of family policy in the Czech Republic and France, and recommendations for the Czech Republic concerning the system of family policy are also formulated.
