Abstract
The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has had a predominantly negative impact on many manufacturing companies. However, there are entities on the market that are experiencing above-standard economic growth due to the pandemic. One of them is the company ALFA, a producer of protective filters. The onset of the pandemic in 2020 increased rapidly the demand for P3-type particulate filters, which are part of ALFA's production program. However, the production facility produced only tens of thousands of pieces per year until then and was not prepared for a sudden positive fluctuation in demand. Despite the quick response and the overall transformation of the production program, the company managed to increase the maximum capacity only partially, as the production process showed too significant restrictions on physical flows. The priority task was to identify the bottlenecks and their elimination in the form of an investment project. The main goal of the diploma thesis is to create a qualified background material that justifies the needs of modernization of technological equipment and at the same time designs and recommends a new innovative solution in the form of an investment project. The risk and economic profitability of every individual proposal is assessed in situations where demand remains at its peak, but also in cases where the need for protective filters decreases rapidly due to the decline of the global pandemic.
