Abstract
The aim of this diploma thesis is to propose a suitable technological solution for reducing very high hardness in treated water, which would favourably improve the conditions of the supplied drinking water in the village of Chotěšov, in connection with the financial difficulty of building one of the selected proposed options. The diploma thesis includes the current conditions of operation of the water treatment plant, describes the effects of water consumption, both at low concentrations of essential elements and at high concentrations, in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effects of water hardness on the human organism. It describes in detail the used sources of raw water, including the characteristics of their geological origin, hydrogeological context and qualitative characteristics. In the practical part, it indicates possible technological variants for optimizing the operation, which have been tested and assessed in laboratory conditions, followed by an indicative outline of investment costs with the aim of finding a balanced approach, considering the factor of financial sustainability of drinking water for the local community.
